The Gladius was the primary sword of ancient Roman foot soldiers and was also used by Roman gladiators. A Roman foot soldier, called a legionary, generally led with his shield and thrust with his gladius. Due to its smaller size the gladius was ideal for close quarters.
This replica has been completed in a small scale to be used as a letter opener.
It is made from metal and measures 5 in L x 1/2 in W x 1/4 in thick.
