Glass half dome paperweight with drawing by Albrecht Durer of an Owl. It is a naturalistic study of an owl with finely detailed feathers and claws.
This would make an appreciative gift for a collector of owl pictures, drawings, and sculptures.
As the son of a Nuremberg goldsmith, Durer has mastered art and craft techniques at an early age. In 1490 the young artist set out on a long journey. He stayed in Basel and carried out book illustration assignments and mastered the techniques of copper engraving and etching. Upon his return he set up his own atelier. His death in 1528 marked the end of a very productive life during which he was acknowledged as the greatest German artist of his time.
