This relief fragment of the Venus of Laussel (Venus de Laussel, Prehistoric era, ca. 22,000 BC) was found in Dordogne, France at the entrance to a cave that was both a dwelling place and a ceremonial site. She is a full-figured woman suggestive of a mother goddess. She holds a moon shape thought by some scholars to associate her with cosmic forces of day and night.

Made from compound stone, hand applied aged stone finish, ready to hang, 10"H, 5 lbs.
