Unlike most cats, this one knows a trick: 'stay'. The Egyptian cat was considered a sacred animal and was identified with the deity Bast (Bastet), the goddess of pleasure. Hundreds of figures were set up as votive offerings in her honor. This sculpture is particularly beautiful because of her painted gold collar and Ankh pendant reproduced after an original (1200 BC) in the British Museum, London. Made from compound stone, black / green finish with gold details, 9.5"H. Don't worry, this pet is low maintenance.
