The Egyptian cat was considered a sacred animal and was identified with the deity Bast (Bastet), the goddess of pleasure. Hundreds of figures were set up as votive offerings in her honor. Our sculpture reproduces an original in the British Museum, London from 1200 BC.

Made from museum resin, soapstone and polychrome finish, 4.75"H.
