Nefertiti Bust of "the Beautiful One...", Soapstone Finish
Nefertiti means "the Beautiful one is Come". The German professor Borchardt found the original bust made of painted limestone in 1912 at Tel-El-Amarna (ancient Akhetaton) in what used to be the workshop of the sculptor Thutmes. Nefertiti was the daughter of a high dignitary in the Pharaoh's court and the wife of King Akhenaten who ruled from 1379 to 1362 BC. She was an influential Queen but is principally remembered for her personal beauty. Our sculpture reproduces an original (c. 1360 BC) now in the Egyptian Museum, Berlin. Made from compound stone, soapstone finish, black marble base, 10"H.
