The Surrealist artists of the early 20th century wanted to evade the shackles of conventional thought. This watch is adapted from one of the preeminent paintings from this period, "Persistence of Memory", by Salvador Dali (1931). Based on Dali's childhood memory of visiting a doctor who asked to see his tongue, the melted watch is a play on the French words "montrer" (to show) and "langue" (tongue) which Dali interpreted as "montre" (watch) and "langueur" (languish). Licensed reproduction, stamped with Dali's signature on the back, stainless steel watch with blue face and raised silver numbers, blue leather strap, roman numerals, 1-year warranty, men's size, 1.25"W x 2"H.
