Vincent Van Gogh painted several paintings with the Irises flower as its subject. The most famous one is in the collection of the Getty Museum, Malibu. Our Irises Silk Tie illustrates a section of his larger painting -- which has a bold use of color and broad brush strokes. The Getty's version was shown at the Salon des Indépendants in September 1889. Theo, his brother, described the painting in this exhibition in a letter: "[It] strikes the eye from afar. It is a beautiful study full of air and life."
Necktie is made from 100% silk, fully lined, approx. 58"L x 3 7/8"W.
