In this sculptural interpretation of Botticelli's Italian Renaissance painting, Venus (Roman Aphrodite) is illustrated being born from a shell. In other accounts of the mythological birth, Venus was brought forth from ocean foam near Cyprus or Cythera. The way she modestly covers herself is an ancient Greek gesture of modesty.
Made from bonded white marble, black marble base, imported from Italy.
