This reproduction of a medieval tapestry is one in a series of six which celebrate the five human senses by illustrating a Lady with Unicorn. In this tapestry, the sense of taste is depicted by the lady taking a sweetmeat, a medieval delicacy, from the dish offered to her by the maidservant. The monkey at the base is popping a sweetmeat into his mouth, thus completing the gesture and confirming the interpretation. The original was woven in Flanders in the late 15th century.
Our reproduction is made from cotton, imported from Europe, ready to hang, includes hanging rod and screws.
