As the author of the Odyssey--the first great piece of literature in the Western tradition--Homer is believed to have been a blind poet who lived around 750 BC and originated from the Greek island of Chios. His contribution as the sole writer of the Odyssey and possibly the Iliad is contested by scholars. Instead, he is believed to have put into writing a tradition of oral epic poetry about the Heroic Age--a period which preceded Homer's own age by approximately five hundred years. This Homer Bust Greek Poet Bust is a perfect gift for a writer, poet, philosopher or history buff.
Historic portrait bust is made from resin, in an off-white with aged grey finish, black base, 7.25"H x 3.5"W x 3.25"D. Homer's name and date, c. 850 BC, is engraved on the back.
