Lakey was a salesman who had never painted before. His rapid creative transformation began on New Year’s Eve 1986, when he was saved by seven angels during a near death experience. Three years later, in January 1990, Lakey’s artistic life found its true focus during an other encounter with angels, this time while fully conscious, from which he emerged with a new painting technique and a new mission; to create 2,000 angel paintings by the year 2000.
