A great number of statues of Gudea, Prince of Lagash, were made during his reign, about 2050 BC. The head and body of this diorite statue were found separately in the collections of the University of Pennsylvania Museum and the Iraq Museum. It is an excellent example of the sculpture of the Sumerian Renaissance in Iraq during the Third Dynasty of Ur.
Made from resin, measures 6.5" W x 13.5" H x 7" D.
