In 1890, Monet bought a small marshland and flower garden across from his house. To build his own lily pond, he diverted the stream that went through the marsh. Within this environment, Monet created a series of lush, colorful paintings in which he studied light as it reflected across the water and flowers. One of his studies of the natural environment, Japanese Bridge, is here honored on a fine porcelain dish. Notice his signature in gold along the rim. Made from fine porcelain by Goebel, hand painted with polychrome and gold details, 7.5" x 6.5" x 1.5".
