This Ariadne Reclining Statue, sculpture is a lovely representation of Ariadne (Ariane), daughter of King Minos of Crete, who helped Theseus escape from the Labyrinth after killing the Minotaur. Theseus abandoned Ariadne while she was asleep (as we see here) on the shore of the island Naxos (Dia) from where she was rescued by Bacchus who espoused her.
Made from bonded white marble, black marble base, imported from Italy, 6"H x 7"L x 3"D.
