Now considered to be one of the greatest sculptors of all time, Auguste Rodin had a turbulent early period enduring the boredom of several art schools and poverty as a young artist living in a nation engaged in war. However, when France recovered from the Franco-Prussian War, Rodin was prepared with sculpture models that would re-adorn France. In 1909, Auguste Rodin fashioned a bronze portrait of the Austrian composer, Gustave Mahler, who sat for the portrait in Rodin's studio. Our gallery quality reproduction in made from cold cast bronze with a wood base, 15.5"H x 8"W x 9.25"D.
