Body parts of the deceased in Egyptian times were protected by the four gods known as the Sons of Horus. They were the guardians of the internal organs, also linked to the four cardinal points. This set of four canopic jars includes from left to right: 1) Duamutef, guardian of the stomach, associated with the east; 2) Imsety, guardian of the liver, associated with the south; 3) Qebsenuef, guardian of the intestines, associated with the west; 4) Hapi, guardian of the lungs, associated with the north. Made from stone-like resin, multicolor and gold finish, lids open with a cavity inside, 8"H x 2.75"W x 2.75"D. These are very lovely!
