Found in an underwater excavation off Riace, Italy, this sculpture of the Riace Warrior with Helmet was in the ocean for many years as part of a pair with the Riace Warrior with Headband. The original, made from lost wax bronze, is a stellar example of the sophisticated talents of Greek artists from the Early Classical / Transitional Period (ca. 460-450 BCE).
