The Greek 5th-century philosopher Socrates (469-399 BC) sought genuine knowledge rather than mere victory over an opponent; Socrates employed the arguments of logic towards a new purpose, the pursuit of truth. His willingness to call everything into question and his determination to accept nothing less than an adequate account of the nature of things make him the first clear exponent of critical philosophy. For his innovative approach, Socrates was tried for impiety and corrupting the youth of Athens. Original in a French Museum.

Made from plaster in a white with yellow wash finish, 13"W x 10"L x 21"H. NOTE: Head is lifesize or slightly larger.
