Antinous bust was the companion to the Emperor Hadrian. Hadrian commissioned many statues of Antinous in various guises to celebrate their association. Together they shared a love for everything Greek and often visited Greece together. This sculpture is executed in a classical style after a fifth-century Greek original. The original Roman marble statue dates from the 2nd century AD and is housed in the Capitoline Museum, Rome. Licensed reproduction from the British Museum, made from antiqued plaster, 12"H x 8"W x 4"D.
