'Beauty is truth, truth beauty,"that is all / Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.'--John Keats. The Townley Urn (ca. 2nd century AD) was excavated by Sir Gavin Hamilton and restored in the 18th century. It was made famous by the inspired poem, Ode on a Grecian Urn, by John Keats (1795-1821). The figures on the vase are followers of the wine god, Bacchus, and are shown dancing in revelry.
