This reproduction is based on an original Hellenistic period wall relief sculpture of the three Graces, constant companions of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. The original (c. 1st century BC) is on permanent display in the Louvre Museum, Paris.
The three Graces of Greek mythology, also called Charities, were young, beautiful, and modest. They personified the graceful sensuousness of the female form. In this relief the articulation of the figures conveys a naturalism typical of the sculpture of the Hellenistic Age that distinguishes it from the more idealized Greek prototypes.
Produced in cooperation with the Reunion des musees nationaux (French Cultural Ministry), it is the only authorized version ever to be produced outside of France. Gallery quality, made from cast marble (a mixture of crushed marble and polymer), hand finished to duplicate the details of the original, suitable for indoor or outdoor use, ready to hang, 15.5"H x 16"W x 2.5"D.
