Built during the 7th and 8th Centuries B.C. during the Qin, Han, and Ming Dynasties, the Great Wall of China has a length of 4,163 miles crossing eastern to western China. The Great Wall of China was originally built as a grouping of separate walls for defensive fortification, to separate different states of war. It became the Great Wall during the reign of Emperor Qin Shihuang to fend off invasion by the northern Huns, following the unification of China. It is a marvel of ancient engineering!
