Egyptian Guardian over 4 Foot Statue It was found in the Antechamber, during the excavation of King Tut's Tomb in 1922 by the Earl of Carnarvon and Howard Carter. The originals were carved from wood, jointed, and with any unevenness made up with plaster, the flesh parts of the statues had been painted directly on to the wood with shiny black resin, the head clothes, broad collars, kilts and other details overlaid with gold on a base of linen and gesso. Guarding Tutankhamun's Burial Chamber, this life-size pair of gilded wooden statues represented his ka, or soul. Tut's missing religious texts were believed to be stored inside the guardians, but x-rays indicate otherwise.
Egyptian Decor is made from resin in gold details, this Egyptian guardian measures 49"H. That's over 4 ft. tall! Weighs over 70lbs.!
