What some will do in the name of love. This sculpture illustrates the Greek God of the Underworld, Pluto, in pursuit of his love Persephone whom he abducted while she was gathering flowers on the plain of Enna in Sicily. In a typical Baroque composition which emphasizes dynamism, Gianlorenzo Bernini (1598-1680) depicts Pluto's pursuit in a spiraling flight of energy and struggle.
