Cincinnatus, one of the heroes of early Rome, is a model of old Roman virtue and simplicity. He is a persistent opponent of the plebeians and resisted the proposal of Terentillius Arsa (or Harsa) to draw up a code of written laws applicable equality to patricians and plebeians. he was in humble circumstances, and lived and worked on his own small farm. In 458, Cincinnatus was named the dictator of Rome; he took up the supreme command, defeated Rome's enemies -- Aequians, and freed the besieged consul Minucius, all within 16 days. The dictator after entering Rome in triumph with large spoils returned to his farm.
Many have seeing a strong similarity to him and George Washington for their strong military leadership and humble political careers.
