This wall hanging reproduces an ancient tombstone for a woman named Glykylla from Classical Greece (circa 430 BC to 400 BC). It was made in Athens to celebrate the life of Glykylla who we see seated with her feet on a footstool in front of her maidservant. The upper class woman wears traditional Greek attire.
The original funerary stone is in the British Museum collection and was originally excavated at Thebes.
